September 29, 2006, Newsletter Issue #26: PSP stuck in Proprietary Technology

Tip of the Week

The iPod isn't the only hard drive-based portable that plays videos and music. The Sony PSP, with a 4GB hard drive, can do music, movies and, of course, plenty of full-color video games. But unless you're a Sony fan already, you might be scared off by all the proprietary technology. You have to use Memory Sticks to transfer data. The movies and games come on proprietary discs, instead of standard DVDs. And music plays on Sony's proprietary ATRAC3 format.

Bottom line: Playstation and Sony fans love the Sony PSP.
