November 17, 2006, Newsletter Issue #31: Secure Digital Memory Cards

Tip of the Week

If your cell phone does accept memory cards, chances are that it uses a secure digital (SD) card or a mini-micro SD card. Secure digital (SD) cards are used by Palm Treo phones, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and other major manufacturers. Secure digital memory cards have taken the lead in the digital memory card market from compact flash, offering nearly as much capacity in a smaller package. Mini/micro-SD cards, also known as transflash cards, have improved on the SD model, offering nearly the same functionality and capacity in a much smaller and more convenient package. And with cell phones, smaller is always better.
